Legal
Terms of Service
These terms apply to your use of this website and the free tools on it. Paid work is governed by a separate signed agreement, described below.
Last updated: 11 August 2026
1. Who we are
"FCL", "we" and "us" mean Futures Change Laboratory, a fully remote research and consulting practice. "You" means the person using this site. Questions about these terms go to hello@futureschangelab.com.
2. The assessments are informational
The Remote Readiness Score and the Distributed Team Health Check are self-assessment tools. The scores, bands, benchmarks and written guidance they produce are general information only. They are not professional, legal, employment, financial, HR or medical advice, they are not a substitute for advice about your specific situation, and no professional relationship is created by taking one. Decisions you make on the basis of a score are yours.
3. No guarantee of results
We do not guarantee employment, interviews, promotion, retention, cost savings or any other outcome. Where we publish figures from our own engagements or from third-party research, they describe what happened in those cases and are not a prediction about yours.
4. Programs and consulting engagements
Prices shown on this site are in United States dollars (USD) and are indicative. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance. Cohort programs, memberships, audits, playbooks, fractional support and institutional partnerships are each governed by a separate written agreement signed by both parties, which sets out scope, fees, payment terms, timelines, confidentiality, cancellation and refunds. Where that agreement and these terms conflict, that agreement wins.
5. The certificate
The Certified Remote Work Professional certificate is a program credential issued by Futures Change Laboratory. It is not an accredited degree, licence or government-recognized qualification, it carries no academic credit, and it is not transferable into a degree program. It documents completion of a specific curriculum and nothing more.
6. Intellectual property
All frameworks, assessment instruments, scoring models, curricula, templates, playbooks, reports, text, imagery and marks on this site are owned by Futures Change Laboratory or used with permission, and remain our property. You may read, quote briefly with attribution, and use materials internally for the purpose they were supplied for. You may not resell, sublicense, republish, or use them to deliver competing training or consulting, and you may not use them to train machine-learning models, without our written permission.
7. Your submissions
You agree that what you send us through this site is accurate, is yours to send, and is not unlawful or abusive. Deliverables you produce during a program remain yours; we may reference anonymized, aggregated results in published research unless your agreement says otherwise. How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
8. Availability
This site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise uninterrupted access, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site or a free tool at any time.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Futures Change Laboratory is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost opportunity or business interruption, arising from your use of this site, the assessments, or the free materials. Our total aggregate liability arising from use of this website and its free tools is limited to 100 USD. Liability relating to paid work is limited as set out in the signed agreement for that work. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any statutory consumer rights you have that cannot be waived.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the site or of our materials, or from your breach of these terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
[PLACEHOLDER — to be completed: these terms are governed by the laws of {STATE / COUNTRY}, and the courts of {VENUE} have exclusive jurisdiction.] Until this is completed, no choice of law or venue is asserted, and nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
12. Changes to these terms
We update the date at the top of this page when these terms change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
